HANDLING & INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR CENTURY STOPPER HEADS AND NOZZLES
TCentury Stopper Heads and Nozzles are bonded with
Phenolic Resins, and the carbon Bond holds the entire matrix
of the composite. A secondary bonding takes over as the stopper
head comes in contact with the molten metal, increasing the
strength many folds. Temperature provides the final strength
of the body to resist running, leakage and spalling of the refractory.
INSTALLATION
-
Do not over tighten the insert /or screw
rod when fixing the same. This can result in the cracking
of the stopper head / and the insert or damaging the threads.
-
The filling compound or Paste used, removes
all the air from inside the stopper, when the screw rod/insert
is tightened.
-
This water based filling compound is dried
during the preheat process.
- Do not scratch or damage the
surface of the head.
- During assembly of Stopper head
with the sleeves, please use minimal amount of paste, the
excess water is dried up during pre-heating of stopper assembly.
PRE-HEATING
-
Pre heating
should be slow and gradual
-
When pre-heating
the Stopper head assembly along with the ladle, please ensure
that the surface of the graphite stopper head is not oxidized
at all. In the event oxidation takes places, this will soften
the surface of the stopper head and make it prone for running
and leakage's while in use.
-
To prevent
oxidation of the stopper head while pre-heating, the following
precautions should be taken:
(a) Flame should not
touch the stopper head.
(b) Select your
pre-heating temperature suitably.
(c) Oxidation
temperature of carbon/graphite is 400Deg Celsius
and up.
|
Protect
your stopper head suitably.
Prevent failure due to mis handling.
Ensure proper installation and pre heating. |
