PROLONG YOUR CRUCIBLE LIFE
Century silicon carbide crucibles, which competition cannot duplicate are exclusively formulated by using selected ingredients, and custom mixed to produce the excellence in crucibles.
A special self-renewing glaze is used, giving longer life along with a special low temperature paint, which prevents low temperature oxidation. Using the vacuum impregnation technique of forcing the glaze into the pores further reduces the crucible wall deterioration.
When
the crucible is heated to 900 deg C, the glaze
softens at this temperature and closes the pores. If the glaze is thorough and complete,
the life of the crucible increases.

CENTURY
CRUCIBLES ARE PHENOLIC RESIN BONDED SPECIAL FORMULATION CRUCIBLES
AND COLOUR CODES FOR DIFFERENT APPLICATIONS. |
|
¬
| IT IS HOWEVER A POPULAR PRACTISES TO USE THE SAME
CRUCIBLES FOR DIFFERENT METALS AND ALLOYS, WHICH MAY HAVE WORKING
TEMPERATURES BELOW THE IDEAL TEMPERATURE SUITABLE FOR ITS
COMPOSTION. THIS IS DETERIMENTAL TO THE LIFEOF THE
CRUCIBLE. |
|
¬
| A SPECIAL GLAZE REJUVENATING SYSTEM SHALL PROLONG THE
CRUCIBLE LIFE IN THE EVENT OF SUCH PRACTISE AT THE FOUNDRY. |
|
¬ | WE HOWEVER DO RECOMMEND THAT
THE CRUCIBLE SELECTED SHOULD BE IDEALLY SUITED FOR YOUR
APPLICATION. |
BLUE FOR APPLICATION IN COPPER & HIGHER
TEMPERATURE COPPER ALLOYS.
These crucibles are recommended to be used between the temperature ranges of 1250 C to
1400 C
In the event these crucibles are being used below the temperature of 1250 deg C, they
should be heated to 1300 deg C and held for one hour every week. This can be done by
heating the crucible empty or by using it for a MELT @1300 C
WHITE FOR APPLICATION IN BRASS AND LOWER
TEMPERATURE COPPER ALLOYS.
These crucibles are recommended to be used between the temperature ranges of 1100 C to
1250 C
In the event these crucibles are being used below the temperature of 1100 C, they should
be heated to 1250 C and held for one hour every week. This can be done by heating the
crucible empty or by using it for a MELT @1250 C
RED FOR APPLICATION
IN ALUMINIUM AND LOWER TEMPERATURE ALLOYS.
These crucibles are recommended to be used between the temperature ranges of 800 C to 1000
C
In the event these crucibles are being used below the temperature of 800 C, they should be
heated to 1000 C and held for one hour every week. This can be done by heating the
crucible empty or by using it for a MELT @1000 C
YELLOW
FOR APPLICATION IN GOLD, SILVER AND OTHER JEWELLARY CAST ALLOYS.
These crucibles are recommended to be used between the temperature ranges of 1100 C to
1250 C
In the event these crucibles are being used below the temperature of 1100 C, they should
be heated to 1250 C and held for one hour every week. This can be done by heating the
crucible empty or by using it for a MELT @1250 C.
GREEN FOR
APPLICATION IN CAST IRON (NO STEEL INCLUSIONS).
These crucibles are recommended to be used only above 1350C.

GENERAL HEAT UP SCHEDULE
|
|
FOR NEW CRUCIBLE
HEAT UP CRUCIBLE TO RED
HEAT(950 C) IN 60 MINS , BEFORE CHARGING
METAL.
FOR OLD MOIST CRUCIBLE
HEAT TO 200 DEG C IN SLOW HEAT IN TWO HOURS ,THEN GRADUALLY INCREASE TEMPERATURE TO 950 DEG C IN THE NEXT ONE HOUR, BEFORE CHARGING METAL.
